Roger C. Hobbs Named Citizen of the Year

Long time resident of Orange, Roger Hobbs has helped establish the Orange Community Foundation, served on the Chapman University Board of Trustees, and also serves on the Orange Parks and Recreation commission as the Fred Kelly Project and Grijalva Park advisor.

Mayor Cavecche read from a recommendation written by William Steiner, Vice President of the Community Foundation, former County of Orange Supervisor, and former Citizen of the Year, “Roger Hobbs is someone who goes far beyond writing checks for worthy charities.

His hands-on involvement, countless hours of volunteerism, boundless enthusiasm, and the example he sets for others makes him worthy of the award”. James L. Doti, President, Chapman University said “Roger is always willing to go that extra step to assist our students, whether by speaking to assist our students, whether by speaking to a group of graduation seniors, attending university functions, heading up committees or lending his support and expertise.”

The Citizen of the Year committee selected Hobbs as this year’s winner because of his dedication to the community’s youth.
